Happy Mother’s Day!!!
Today’s entry is a special Mother’s Day video dedicated to my mother Deysy Klein. My mom was born in Cuba and left before Castro took over. She’s somehow passed the English equivalency exam for residency after medical school here in the United States without ever taking an English Class in a very short time!!! My mother had a very successful career as a doctor in Charlotte NC and did everything she could to provide me and my brother and sister and great life!
Even though I have not fulfilled my desire to “give back” to my mother during her retirment, I was able to take her back to Cuba LEGALLY a couple of years ago for the first time in 49 years!!! That said, what you’re about to see would have been a lot more fun if it ran in Cuba so my family there could see it, but Castro (whichever one is in power now) wouldn’t go for that! You never know what meeting someone will lead to! I don’t know about you, but I would love to be an actor on TV or in a movie or even a TV commercial, but not so much that I actively pursue it. Well, last April I was working out in the gym when this woman randomly asked me if I speak Spanish. I told her that although I wasn’t fluent, I could get by.
She asked me if I’d like to be in a Spanish TV commercial and I said YES! She had a contact who needed someone to fill in on a commercial, so she referred me. Look at what that lead to! How funny is this and how great is it that I have this to show people when they need a good laugh?!
PS – I love you mom!!
PSS – You probably won’t see me in a lot more commercials! They cut almost all my lines because they said I have a GRINGO accent!
