www.monstermixers.com Networking Tips
Correction on yesterday’s blog entry: Carrie said “If you sell, You Smell!” – Very appropriate for today’s posting about networking tips.
Big event tonight at the Venue at 5:30pm in Clearwater as www.monstermixers.com kicks off it’s first event! Here are some fun networking tips borrowed from one of my favorite movies, “Wedding Crashers”. Who would have thought that some of their rules are actually very good suggestions!
They are great tips, but don’t practice all of these crashers’ rules. Here are the good ones in reverse order:
Rule #86 – Shoes say a lot about the man.
Rule #82 – Always think ahead but always stay in the moment. Reconcile this paradox and you’ll not only get the girl, you might also get peace of mind.
Rule #80 – Stop, look, listen. At weddings. In life. Applies to networking events also!
Rule #73 – No excuses. Party like a champion. Make this one “Play” like a champion!
Rule #72 – Studies have shown that women have a more developed sense of smell. Breath mints – small cost, big yield.
Rule #66 – Smile! You’re having the time of your life.
Rule #60 – No “chicken dancing” – no exceptions.
Rule #37 – At the reception, one hard drink or two beers max. A drunk crasher is a sloppy crasher.
DON’T GET DRUNK AND WASTED!!!!! YOU ARE MEETING BUSINESS PEOPLE! Have fun, but don’t go off
the deep end!
Rule #29 – Always be a team player. Everyone needs a little help now and again.
Rule #18 – You love animals and children.
Rule #6 – Do not sit in the corner and sulk. It draws attention in a negative way. Draw attention to yourself, but on your own terms.
Rule #7 – Blend in by standing out.
Rule #8 – Be the life of the party.
Wow! Look at how many wedding crashing rules apply to networking! There are a lot more that apply, but they also include some verbage that wouldn’t be appropriate to list for networking.
As always, have fun and ADD VALUE! Make notes about the people you meet who can help you or who you can help. And make notes about anyone extraordinary. You never know when that contact could be useful to you or others in your center of influence!

Insight on “Konnecting” at Business Networking Events
Yesterday I attended the Free Networking International “Boom! Your Business Expo and Networking Extravaganza!” – the brainchild of David Doerges. The event ran from 10:30am to 8:30pm, so imagine how sparse the venue could look even with over 1,000 people coming and going throughout an entire day!
Some would think there wouldn’t be a great opportunity to network upon seeing less than 100 people any given time, but WATCH THE VIDEO for the real deal!
There were 10 TOP NOTCH Presenters whose expertise was relevant to ANYONE! These presenters included my good friends Chris Krimitsos, Bruce Anderson, and Kathy Perry along with Certified Speaking Professional Sheryl Nicholson, Shawna Vercher who did the Web marketing for the Obama campaign, and Jolie Gonzalez who knows how to market to the hispanic community as well as anyone.
In addition, there were 3 sessions with 5 expert panelists (SuperKonnector was 1!) for 3 important business skill sets. Some of the panelists included Carrie Byrd, Joe Malinowski, Michael Lauer, the fantasitic Linda Burhans, my boy Bob Brumm, Linda Olson, and Jim Cheatham. There was even a business expo area.
PS – Think of someone you’ve met in the last couple of days and someone you can introduce them to who can help them achieve their goals!
PS II – Remember to Add Value! Carrie Byrd made a comment on the panel we were on together that “Sellin’ is Sellin’ “, so don’t try to jump off the boat and try to shove the worm in the fish’s mouth!
Get there 15 min early!
When you attend networking events, arrive 15 min early! Watch the video to hear and see why!
PS! Go out there today and consciously raise people’s self-esteem. With every interaction, you have the power to help lower or raise everyone’s self-esteem. Have a great day!

Reminder, always take your digital camera with you to capture videos. I missed 3 great opportuities this week for great videos, because I didn’t have my camera with me!
PS! You’re NEVERÂ too old to learn new stuff!
Create the Habit! and make sure I do too! What, no video today?
Steven Klein here. Well, it’s April 24th and I still have not created the habit of blogging every day. To get visitors to your site and make sure they keep coming to your site, you’ve got to have consistent content (kind of talking to myself there!).
I recently “googled” Steven Klein and I didn’t show up until the 41st page! There is a very famous photographer named Steven Klein and some dude with an LSAT course who dominate my name.
Well, given what I know about blogging and social networking, I’m going to be my own case study now and see how quickly I can move up to the 1st or 2nd page.
I’ll use my blog, facebook, twitter, and linked in to a lesser degree and see what happens.
My main focus is selling the best priced wholesale properties in Tampa – visit www.etampadeals.com and putting a couple of big deals together with my SuperKonnector business, but I’ve got create the habit of blogging and using the social networking sites daily!
And I would suggest carrying your digital camera around with you to capture short video clips for your blog also. That’s right; No video today. And I could have had some great footage if I’d had my camera with me when I put out signs for www.etampadeals.com this week!
Create the Habit and let me know how it goes. If you don’t see a daily blog from me, get on me!
Thanks, Steven Klein
Are you Defining yourself by what you Do for a Living?
Sometimes I get so wrapped up in work stuff that I forget that I’m here to be happy and live! When you ask people the typical question, “what do you do?”, make sure to folow up with “what do you do for fun?” or “what activities or things are you passionate about”? You’ll probably get some surprising answers like “I love to ride my Harley” from someone you would NEVER guess would even own one.
You want to get to know someone, not just what they do. You’ll never connect with them on a deep level with the typical “what do you do?” question. Imagine connecting someone with a contact or resource for something they are passionate about, not just “work” stuff. They will appreciate you forever!
The video below is from a great new place in Orlando: Ceviche which has an incredible atmosphere and live entertainment. I went there with my friends “Fernando from Orlando” and “Blackjack”. HAVE FUN!!!!!!
You may not know what you think you Know!!!
Today’s tip to connect comes from an “Ah-Ha” I had last night at an incredible networking event between two multi-day mastermind sessions with about 40 participants and guests. One of my mentors was there, who is one of the top pre-foreclosure real estate investment seminar gurus in the United States. I hadn’t seen him in about 2 years. When I asked him what he was up to, he said he had taken his seminar business and completely transformed it into an information marketing business (which means it’s all on the internet now. NO LIVE EVENTS!). And he is now working on a couple of Luxury Resort Developments.
So what’s the point? If want to add value to people, don’t assume they are still doing what they were doing 6 months ago! The average American is going to change jobs or careers 8 times in their lives (and that’s an old statistic!), so always ask what they are working on that you could help them with or you’ll be way off when you try to help!!! Here’s a quick clip from that venue last night:
Be the Best Person You’d Want to Meet!
Are you being the type of person who you’d want to meet? Do you have good posture? Are you smiling? Are you being friendly or an #%&?
Comments welcome with your tips, suggestions, or critiques. Make it a great day!
SuperKonnector Tip of the Day……
Today’s tip should help you stay in integrity and be where you plan to be! Wouldn’t that be nice!
